Arttrober 2023 (Part 4 of 4)
It's October, and that means that once again I'm following the prompts for Arttrober, a daily drawing challenge that requires artists to draw specific characters from games, anime and comics over the course of the month. This post reviews the final seven days of the challenge.
OBLIGATORY WARNING: Every one of these images was produced in a single day in the time available! They may be off-model, poorly shaded, or a little bit crap. Discretion is advised in the eye of the beholder.
25 Uta (One Piece: Red) |
Uta is a character from the shounen manga/anime One Piece—specifically, the movie Red. I'm familiar with One Piece in general, but I've only seen a couple of the movies, a new one coming out every couple of years or so. One Piece has such a distinct visual style, it's difficult to tell how individual characters transfer to other art styles.
26 Mitsuru Kirijo (Persona 3) |
Another Persona character. I really need to play more of these. The hair came out interestingly.
27 Nightwing (Batman) |
One of the rare appearances of a male character on the prompt list. Nightwing I know is the first Robin, Dick Grayson. I had some trouble with body proportions—I'm not used to this kind of muscular anatomy. Ah well, practice will make perfect.
28 Nana Osaki (NANA) |
That's three singers drawn this Arttrober. I'm not familiar with this manga/anime.
29 Jett (Valorant) |
Jett here is a character from the multiplayer battler Valorant. Which I haven't played. Nice enough character design though.
30 Lady Death (Lady Death) |
Lady Death here appears to be a dark and gritty anti-heroine who wears very little. But she has a cloak! So I made use of that in the composition.
31 Herlock Sholmes (The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles) |
Day 31 of Arttrober is always personal choice. So my personal choice this year is Herlock Sholmes of the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which I recently (finally) managed to complete. I found Herlock Sholmes to be an interesting and amusing version of the Great Detective.
And that's it for this year! Went rather well, all things considered.
