Arttrober 2022 (Part 1 of 4)

Just as last year, I'm following the prompts for Arttrober, which challenges artists to draw specific characters from games, anime and comics over the course of the month of October, one a day. This post reviews the first eight days of the challenge.

WARNING: Every one of these images was produced in a single day in the time available! They may be off-model, badly shaded, or even just plain crap. Reader discretion is advised.

01 Yor Forger (Spy x Family)

I've yet to finish watching Spy x Family, but I liked what I saw a lot. This depiction of Yor is clearly off-model, and not a terrific start to the challenge—which is a pity, because I really liked the idea of drawing her.

02 Chun-Li (Street Fighter)

Man, I haven't played Street Fighter in a long time. This one came out okay.

03 Morpheus (Sandman)

Never read Sandman (prepare for further keen insights into media I haven't actually read/played/watched). The drawing is alright, I suppose.

04 Yum (Urusei Yatsura)

A classic! That I haven't watched. Oh well. It was fun trying to replicate the heroine's irridescent hair.

05 Yelan (Genshin Impact)

Goddamn Genshin Impact and its overly-busy character designs. I mean, they look cool, but I only get one day (a few hours really) to draw these things! The drawing came out alright, but the diagonal cut of the fringe went a bit, ah, acute.

06 Stella (Winx Club)

I don't know anything about the Winx Club, except that what I drew clearly doesn't look like the character I looked up when I started drawing.

07 Makima (Chainsaw Man)

I've heard Chainsaw Man is actually pretty good. I don't think I've quite captured the eerie intensity of Makima's eyes as suggested by the source material.

08 Edelgard (Fire Emblem)

I'm a fan of Fire Emblem, but I haven't played any of the recent stuff—no Switch. Still, I think this came out quite well.
