Artwork: Uncoiled Mermaid

A mermaid sat on the ocean floor, her hair unspooling in the water behind her head as she looks over her shoulder.

It's May, and that means Mermay, which means mermaids. I don't make the rules.

A drawing of a mermaid sat on the ocean floor, looking up over her shoulder at the viewer. She has long vivid red hair that unfurls into the water behind her head like a cloud of serpents, a purple flower decorating her brow over her hairline. Her tail is wrapped beside her; her skin is pale aquamarine, darkening to teal and blue as it thickens into scales like a backless dress all the way down to her purplish tail-fins. Aside from the mermaid tail, she has some bestial features: tiny fangs, thick gills strirating her neck, claws and small fins emerging from the sides of her arms. Meanwhile her eyes have yellow irises and dark scleras. She's smiling up at the viewer in a manner that may be either friendly or hungry.
She's pleased to see you. Or she's hungry. One or the other.

Yet another artwork where I pose the eternal question: how much hair is too much hair?

This is the third time I've drawn a mermaid for 'Mermay'. Here are the links for 2025 and 2024 for comparison.
