Artwork: Hathor (Persona 2: Innocent Sin)

It's been a dry month for drawing on my part, so I need to get back into the swing of things. To start with, here's a drawing of Hathor of the Priestess Arcana, one of the personas summonable in Persona 2: Innocent Sin.

Hathor is, of course, also a major Egyptian deity, goddess of such things as music, dance, joy and sexuality, among other things. She is consort to various deities at various times in various roles (Egyptian mythology having been for a long time a very much living religious tradition, adapting to the needs of the kingdoms of Egypt). Her portrayal in Persona 2... doesn't really strongly correspond to actual artworks from the period of her worship, though her design in other Shin Megami Tensei games is a bit closer.

A drawing of the Egyptian goddess Hathor as portrayed in the videogame Persona 2: Innocent Sin. She is portrayed as an attractive young woman in a golden-yellow dress with long black hair spiralling upwards. Encircling her rising hair float two metallic rings, a larger and a smaller one. She has pointed ears from which hang hoop earrings. She has crossed bare legs and feet, decorated only by an anklet and couple of thinner ankle bracelets. She appears to be floating in blueish void, and is looking directly at the viewer with luminous cyan eyes.
The goddess Hathor, as she appears in Persona 2. She's actually quite powerful, with good healing and offensive capabilities—I'd recommend equipping her on one of the girls once they're sufficiently levelled to do so.

I thought the rising hair sheathed within twin floating rings used in Persona 2 was quite a striking design, along with the golden clothes. The actual design in the game is rather small and pixellated, so I had to embellish a little, but I think it's fairly close in spirit. The way she 'pops' out from the border is entirely a layering accident, one I was happy to then exploit (it also allowed for a closer crop of the canvas).
