Artwork: Picking Up A Lady

So I needed more practice drawing hands.

Something else? Well, I was generally just playing about here, messing about with clothing style and hair, adding a flower as a fascinator to one temple, and overextending her ear (which seems to have drooped a bit—a common health issue with elves that people don't speak enough about). I added an orange haze at the bottom to imply that the subject was perhaps being lifted to safety from some conflagration, but I'm unsure whether it adds to the composition or just distracts the eye.

A young elf with long auburn hair, in a simple green and grey dress with trailing cloak. She's sitting in the palm of a giant's grey-blue hand—only the hand and wrist is visible. She seems to be being lifted up in the air, though she looks quite calm. The subject has a pink flower tied to her hair around one temple; she's wearing multiple bangles and leather boots. The pendant stone of her necklace matches the pink-and-green of her eyes.
This is how you pick up a lady, don't you know.

So in retrospect, I really should have sketched out better how the young lady in the drawing 'sat' on the hand lifting her up. It's quite clear that the plane of the palm isn't aligned properly with how the subject is sitting; if nothing else, she's liable to slip off the edge any moment. Ah well.
