Artwork: Dark-Eyed Detective

And here we have, in the wild, that rarest of beasts: a young man who is not some kind of fey or elven lady. His ears are hardly pointed at all!

Not so sure what's up with his eyes though...

A man who has spent too long staring into the abyss.

This was a fairly limited piece, mostly head and torso rather than full-body as I often try and do now. I tried to give him a kind of period authenticity in his old-fashioned mode of dress and haircut.

This is actually a specific character from a book I'm writing. He's supposed to be of a cursed people, one whose eyes are shrouded—specifically, the sclera ('whites') of their eyes are dark-grey/black. This makes it difficult for members of this people to 'pass' in 'normal' society. This character is also supposed to have copper irises—a tongue-in-cheek allusion to his profession. Unfortunately, I still have considerable difficulty drawing specific characters that I already have a strong mental image for—this drawing doesn't quite capture the character, so I'll have to try again another time.
