Artwork: Scholarly Priest

A scholarly priest in a white monk's robe, studying his scripture while offering his blessing.

A character portrait I drew up in preparation for a roleplaying game campaign that my group is due to start soon—a simple human priest (actually priest initiate, but I'm not redrawing him every time he gets a promotion).

A drawing of an austere-looking man in a white monk's robe, holding up a book and an amulet shaped like an owl's head. He's facing to the left of the drawing, his blue eyes glancing across to the viewer. He has thick but receding dark-blond hair, swept back, and a beard but no moustache. He has a sling bag hanging by his hip with a couple of scroll cases and other writing implements sticking out from the opening. A beam of golden light shines down on him, piercing the surrounding gloom.
I have no idea how this character is supposed to get along with the vagabonds and literal outlaws generated by my fellow players.

The roleplaying game in question is Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4th edition); I'm not as big a Warhammer fan as some of my friends, but I know the setting well enough, and am looking forward to playing again after a spell of gamesmastering Scum and Villainy. My only regret is that the random character generation did not throw up a more unusual starting career for my character: I could have been a rat-catcher or a riverwarden, for example. A priest of Verena is actually rather ordinary for a player character in a fantasy RPG.
