Artwork: Roosting Demoness

Sometimes it's fun to play with perspective—or to let your hair down. Another demon lady, of sorts, relaxing.

The demoness was in the tower, exactly as Jack had been told to expect. What was less to be expected was what she was doing: hanging upside down, her long hair draped underneath her, regarding the interloper with arms folded and eyebrow raised.

Jack had been told her name already: Impera. Along with a warning to not be too impolite or too persistent, whatever that was supposed to mean.

A drawing of a woman hanging upside down from some unseen perch, smirking at the viewer with her arms folded in front of her. The woman has demonic red eyes, pointed ears and long purple hair that hangs freely down beneath her. She has a pair of large, partially unfurled leathery wings held suspended on either side of her. She's wearing a black halter-top coat with golden trim, leaving her shoulders exposed; the tails of the coat hang down just behind her wings. She's wearing grey trousers. She has long, purple talons, and her tail is wrapped loosely around her legs. Behind her is a stone wall with large open windows; the sky beyong the windows is orange, as if lit by an unseen fire, backlighting her.
A demoness (or vampire?) roosting in a stone tower. She finds it more comfortable than the other way.

Impera hung there from a crossbeam, one booted foot hooked over the beam while the other was tucked behind her ankle. It shouldn't have been enough to secure her, especially with those heavy wings weighing her down. Nevertheless, the demoness seemed unconcerned with the pull of gravity, or the presumable rush of blood to her head.

"Are you comfortable hanging like that?" Jack asked.

"Quite comfortable, thank you," Impera replied, her ruby eyes pulsing softly in the gloom.

"You wouldn't rather—"

"No."

An uncomfortable moment of silence. Impera pulled her arms down past her head and stretched languidly, her talons almost scraping the floor beneath her. Her entire body swayed slightly as the crossbeam above her gave off a low creak. The demoness rolled her shoulders and folded her arms again as she glared at Jack.

"What was it you were wanting, exactly?" The powerful wings stirred, eliciting a leathery rustling sound. Behind the demoness, the orange sky began to dim as the sun began to dip below the horizon. In the gathering darkness, her ruby eyes began to glow more vividly even as a slow smirk began to creep across Impera's face.

Jack started to wonder if coming here was a mistake after all.

Added 12th January: a 'right side up' recolour and flip of the character, now standing in the midst of some mystical (and very luminous) updraft.

A drawing of a woman standing in the midst of some radiant updraft, smirking at the viewer with her arms folded in front of her as her hair and coat are blown directly upwards. The woman has glowing violet eyes, pointed ears and long green hair that floats in the air above her. She has a pair of large, partially unfurled leathery wings held suspended on either side of her. She's wearing a white halter-top coat with yellow trim, leaving her shoulders exposed. She's wearing burgundy trousers. She has long, purple talons, and her tail is wrapped loosely around her legs. Behind her is a stone wall with large open windows; the sky beyond the windows is bright blue.
