Artwork: Woman With Parasol

I have some thoughts about this piece.

A blonde-haired woman carrying a linen parasol. She's looking to one side; her eyes are green. She's wearing a pale beige blouse, a brown leather corset, and black leggings. She's also wearing black fabric choker and a necklace with a blue crystal pendant stone shaped like a claw.

When looking at art in hindsight (this commentary being actually written in 2023), the flaws are often painfully obvious. This piece is far from terrible, and certainly not my worst, but I do feel that there are various sins embodied in the stiffness of the pose, the awkward facial features and the misshapen hands. I also think the 'logic' of the clothing is a bit off, particularly regarding the sleeves and the odd length of 'back-skirt' the lady here apparently has. This generally comes from not planning apparel when initially sketching the drawing out, but rather just cobbling it together as things develop, like I'm putting the character together from pre-constructed pieces.
